“Click here!” – Or maybe not?

“Click here!” – Or maybe not?

How a well-written CTA turns visitors into clients

Imagine someone visits your website, browses for a few seconds… and leaves. What was missing? Maybe just a well-placed and well-written call-to-action (CTA) – a button that helps the visitor take the next step.
A strong CTA not only asks for attention but also provides direction. It guides the visitor from the first click to the purchase.

Why is a CTA important?

💡 Did you know? A well-written and well-placed CTA can increase click-through rates by up to 200%.
This isn’t marketing magic – it’s simple psychology: when you tell people what to do, they’re much more likely to do it.

What is a CTA?

A CTA (Call To Action) is a short but clear prompt – like a button that says:

  • “Book an appointment now”
  • “Request a quote”
  • “Try it for free”

Its job is simple: help the visitor understand what to do next.

What makes a good CTA?

1. It clearly tells the visitor what to do

Don’t be vague or too general. A button that says “Next” or “Click here” doesn’t say much. Instead, describe exactly what happens after the click:

  • “Download the guide”
  • “See available time slots”
  • “Request a callback”

2. It creates a sense of urgency

Sometimes people just need a little nudge to act. For example:

  • “Only a few time slots left this week”
  • “Offer valid until midnight”
  • “Don’t miss out!”

This works especially well for time-limited services or promotions.

3. It shows the benefit for the visitor

No one clicks just for the sake of clicking. Show what they get in return:

  • “Save time – book online”
  • “Learn how to attract more clients”
  • “Free help for small businesses”

Push the button

Where should you place a CTA?

On your website:

  • On your homepage, in a clearly visible spot
  • Next to each service
  • At the end of blog posts
  • In a pop-up while scrolling (just don’t make it annoying)

In emails:

  • Right after your offer or key message
  • As a simple button at the end of the email

On social media:

  • In the post text (“Send us a DM”)
  • In your bio or profile section
  • At the end of a story (“Swipe up to book!”)

What should you avoid?

  • Don’t give too many choices. One page = one goal.
  • Make sure it stands out. Use colors that pop – it shouldn’t blend into the background.
  • Make it mobile-friendly. It should be easy to read and tap on a phone.
  • Deliver what you promise. If you say “Book now,” make sure that’s what happens next.

How do we use CTAs at Timevise?

All of our website templates have a CTA at the top of the homepage, since we know that’s what actually brings clients. On top of that, we highlight the booking button in the menu - because we know that’s what actually brings clients.
Examples:

  • A “Book now” button right at the top of the page
  • A second CTA below the service description to remind users of the next step
  • A simple prompt at the end of our blog posts: “Subscribe to our newsletter!” or “Try Timevise for free!”

In closing

A good CTA isn’t pushy – it helps. Your visitor is already on your page. Don’t let them leave without direction. Show them where to go next.
